The gang is back for the high-end, fast paced action in Fast Five.   In this part of the film franchise, Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner form an elite team of top racers to pull off one last job.  There are many returning faces from past  films; Roman (2 Fast 2 Furious) and Han (Fast and the Furious : Tokyo Drift).

This movie should have been made before Tokyo drift.  The franchise of the Fast and the Furious seems to skip around alot; prequel  comes after a sequel and so on.  If you were going to try and piece the movies together to make a solid general story, you would be very confused with the characters resurfacing from the dead.  Each movie should be treated as independent sequences in the Fast and the Furious universe.

The main thing I liked about this movie was the addition of Hobbs (played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). Hobbs has that “by the book personality”,  which brings some much needed elements to the film franchise. He provides the straight man role that characters can play off of.   He also brings the element of realistic fighting.  His past experiences with the WWE have helped enhance the fighting scenes in this movie.

Seeing this movie in IMAX  and D-BOX Seating brings another element to movie goers as you are put in to the world of racing.  IMAX offers crystal clear surround sound and larger than life images. D-BOX seating puts you into the movie and helps you experience the wide drifts, and  sharp turns as if you were inside the car with the actors.

I give Fast Five a full price and an upgrade to IMAX and DBOX if you have it available to you.

The movie is a stand alone story that is just entertaining and has enough to keep your interest.

If you like racing action films here are some movies you might also like:
