In a recent interview with Collider, Abrams explains that filming for Star Trek 2 will begin this Thursday and that it won’t interfere with his producing of Alcatraz.  He goes on to say that he so loved the 3D conversion of the previous film, that he won’t be shooting the sequel digitally, and will in fact have it converted in post production.

Abrams also confirmed Benedict Cumberbatch as the film’s villain.  J.J. claims that, in addition to having one of the greatest names in history, Cumberbatch is an impressive actor and is exactly what he was looking for in the Role.

Are you excited about the new Star Trek film?  As long as it has Simon Pegg I’ll be back for as many as they wanna make.

I've dealt with Zombies, Murderers, and Hank Azaria. I'm ready for anything Capt'n.
