The Underworld franchise is back in theaters and our heroine, Selene is back to kick more butt than ever before. The movie this time centers around the fact that our two warring factions of Vampires and Lycans (werewolves) have been discovered by the human race and are systematically being eradicated. Selene thus has another war she must fight as she tries to avoid being taken out by the human death squads.

There’s lots of action to be seen in this movie but, lots of explosions does not translate automatically in to a good movie. The fight scenes are not too bad as Selene is shown slicing, stabbing, shooting, and blowing the holy crap out of everything and everybody she comes in contact with. Also, it depicts vampires in a more traditional sense as killers who think themselves above all others ( you know instead of as whiny, pouting, morons). If you like your vampires to get bloody constantly this will satisfy that craving.

I was a little angry that they used the 3-D gimmick to pull extra money out of the viewers pockets. It absolutely adds nothing to the movie except in like 4 or five moments and even then the wow factor is fleeting. The acting left much to be desired but acting isn’t what you go to see an Underworld movie for. The story as vocalized by many of my fellow moviegoers was weak at best but again, not what you go to see an Underworld movie for.

Honestly, this is not a good movie. It felt like it requires you to turn your brain off which I feel you shouldn’t have to do when paying for entertainment. Between the horrid 3-D usage and the lackadaisical plot I give this movie a 2 out of 5.
